DURING THE TOURNAMENT:

You can help us prevent mistakes!

  • Follow along with your bracket online as you win or lose to make sure that scorekeepers have entered the results in correctly. If you see that the scorekeeper chose the wrong competitor to move forward in the bracket as the winner, notify us immediately so we can fix the bracket!

Make sure to pay attention to the title of your division:

  • The division title shows the rule set of the bracket... If your bracket was combined, we always go by the lower rule set (unless the competitors mutually agree on a different rule set). For example, if a kid is combined into a teen division, we'll go by kid's rules. And an Adult Intermediate/Advanced division will go by Intermediate rules. You can always ask the ref before the match if you aren't sure!

If you can't compete in a division:

  • If you don't compete in one of your paid divisions for ANY reason (injury, needing to leave early, etc.), you can roll that division over to any future tournament (as long as you haven't competed in any of the matches in that division). Just notify us at the front that you will be leaving (or that you can't make it to the tournament), and we'll put your name down for credit at another GG tournament. Division credits never expire.

COACH LIST:

Click here for the list of team coaches. Anyone is able to coach a specific competitor (such as parents/teammates/friends) and does not have to be listed here in order to coach. This list helps us know who to contact from the gym in case of questions or issues.

Team points will be combined for multiple gyms under the same affiliation. If the affiliation is not listed, contact us at thegrapplinggames@gmail.com so that we can add it.

TENTATIVE TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:

TENTATIVE WEIGH-IN SCHEDULE:

  • Kids and Teens competing in No-Gi:

    • Saturday between 8:30am - 9:45am

  • Kids and Teens only competing in Gi:

    • Saturday between 10:00am - 11:15am

  • Adults/Masters/Seniors competing in Gi:

    • Saturday between 11:00am - 1:15pm

    • Saturday between 11:00am - 2:45pm

  • If you are competing in multiple divisions (gi and no-gi), you only need to weigh in ONE time for the whole day

  • We recommend arriving one hour before your division is expected to start to allow time to find parking, weigh in, warm up, etc. and to allow for an earlier match time in case the tournament runs faster than expected

VENUE NOTES:

  • There is limited seating at the venue. We encourage competitors and spectators to bring lawn chairs if you have them.

HOW TO WEIGH-IN:

To discourage unhealthy and potentially dangerous weight-cuts and diets, we do not hold weigh-ins on the night before our tournaments. We recommend our athletes compete in a weight division that falls under their normal everyday weight.

  • Weigh-ins are without the gi at the venue before your division begins.

  • There is a 1-pound allowance to account for undergarments and scale differences.

  • If you miss your scheduled weigh-in time, you will be considered absent, your name will be removed from the brackets, and the bracket will be re-drawn.

  • If you do not make weight or do not weigh-in during your assigned weigh-in time, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM YOUR WEIGHT DIVISIONS. If you signed up for Absolute divisions, you may still compete in those in your weight allows (ex. If you signed up for the Absolute No-Gi 0-170 lbs., but you weigh-in over 170 lbs., you will be disqualified from your Absolute division too).

  • Please make sure you are at the weight you registered for, as there will be no refunds or transfers given due to disqualification or missing weight for any reason.

  • Competitors 18-years old and above may not change weight divisions on the day of the tournament as brackets will already be finalized and posted. If you know you need to change your weight division after you have registered, please contact us before 8PM on the Thursday before the tournament to change divisions.

Divisions will be posted online by the Friday before the tournament.

TOURNAMENT RULES:

  • Please review the rules and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

  • Review our Brackets page to see which bracket formats are used for a certain number of competitors in a division.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Full refunds if we do not have another competitor in your division (and team mates don't count as opponents). You will be notified by the Thursday before the tournament if you do not have a competitor.

  • Division credit rollovers if you have not started your division(s). This may be due to injury from a previous division, not showing up to the tournament, having to leave early, etc.

    • As a courtesy to other competitors, please let us know ASAP if you cannot make the event so we can update brackets. If there is only one other person in your division, it will give us an opportunity to contact the other competitor to let them know they do not have an opponent.

  • Full refunds at anytime for military personnel who are put on orders before the tournament and cannot compete. Just email us a copy of your orders (within 6 months after the tournament) and we will process a full refund for you.
